VIVA is the pseudonym for Queens-based choreographer, performer, and movement director Vanessa Soudan. She is a graduate of Eugene Lang at The New School where she studied performance theory and dance. In service of facilitating bodily autonomy to the masses she has studied movement therapy, intimacy direction, fitness modalities, intuitive movement, yoga, and Pilates. Soudan is the founder of Haus of Sweat - a community dance club and workshop which has partnered with Daybreaker, Nike, Reebok, Calvin Klein, and Adidas, among others. She has worked with many beautiful artists and continues to form collaborations. She has presented and performed at Otion Front, New York Live Arts, Jack, Joe’s Pub, MOMA, MOMA PS1, Miami Basel, Peace Barn (CT), Life Ball (Vienna), Les Urbaines (Switzerland), Gessernallee (Zürich), Inkonst (Malmö), Steirischer Herbst (Graz), et al. She has been reviewed by the New York Times, Paper Magazine, Milk and VICE.
