Since 1919, The New School has been home to scholars, creators, and activists who challenge convention and boldly make their mark on the world.
To celebrate this groundbreaking legacy, we are opening our doors to the public for a weeklong festival of innovative performances, talks, workshops, screenings, exhibitions, and more.

On October 1–6, 2019, join us as we reflect on a century of world-changing ideas and together imagine a new kind of future.

The Festival of New is free and open to all.

Marco Weibel

Brought up on a diet of soul, early chicago/detroit house, jazz and rare grooves, DJ / selector Marco, dabbles in all things deep, spiritual, raw and honest. Originally from Singapore, Marco is one of the brightest selectors to have emerged out of the burgeoning South-East Asian scene. His move to New York has only furthered his musical reach, and his eclectic sound palette spans across a wide range of sounds from Beats, Dancefloor Jazz, Boogie, Afro/Brazilian, Hip-Hop, House / Techno, Footwork, Dub, Soundsystem Culture and beyond, depending on the setting. Known for his tight mixtapes and guest sets on platforms such as Worldwide FM, Block.fm (Tokyo), Rinse FM and Live For The Funk, this talented cat has shared dance-floors with established tastemakers such as Francois K, Quantic, Yaeji, Scratcha DVA, Photay, Kyle Hall, Inga Copeland, Iman Omari, Howie Lee to name a few.

Steadily making his rounds, Marco has played in numerous cities such as London, Barcelona, Brussels, Hamburg, Tokyo, Toronto, Montreal, Sao Paulo, Rio, Jakarta, Bali and holds various residencies in New York City. Marco co-hosts 2 of Darker Than Wax’s staple radio shows. ‘Darker Than Wax FM’, a weekly mix show that airs live on The Lot Radio as well as ‘We Move’, a monthly broadcast recorded out of Red Bull Studios NY. The shows, 130 episodes deep, have a cult following and featured diverse guest such as Lefto, Flamingosis, B.Cool-Aid, Byron The Aquarius, Suzi Analogue, FaltyDL and others. Highly sought after for his deep digs and selections, Marco always connects the dots between the old and new. Whether Marco’s playing at major festival, Dimensions in Croatia, Potato Head Beach Club Bali for the sunset, or the smoked-out basement club Black Flamingo NYC for Discogs -endorsed ’24 Hours of Vinyl’ (presented by Music Is My Sanctuary) in Brooklyn, Marco’s ability to discern the vibe and dish out thoughtful and appropriate frequencies for head nodding or straight dancefloor annihilation, he’s got it locked down.

Spearheading US operations, Marco is also core member of music label/collective Darker Than Wax, which has been constantly pushing the boundaries of underground/leftfield music, and supported by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Bradley Zero, and more.
